       SCHOOL  EDUCATION  STANDARD          ( PROPOSED )

       THE  OBJECTIVE   OF THE   SCHOOL  EDUCATION  STANDARD

       IS  THE  DEVELOPMENT  OF    STUDENT   CHARACTER   TRAITS

       THE   SCHOOL  EDUCATION  STANDARD   encompasses   4   dimensions:

      : Students   Character   Traits   Development.

                  : Learning   Subjects /  Course  matter   in schools.

                             : Class   Room   Learning   Spaces;

                                                        Class   Room   physical   facilities,  furniture   configuration;

                                                        Environment:  air   quality,   acoustics   and   lighting.

                                             : Technology;   Information   and   Communication,

                                                          Teacher   Student   learning.

   Basic   premise   being   that   crowded   and   congested   classrooms   mitigate   education.

   Students should  develop  character  traits  also   in school   while  learning subject / course matter.

   The   teacher   not  only   imparts   subject   matter   knowledge

   but  is  also   instrumental   in  developing   students'   latent   character   traits.

   A  two  fold  strategy:

   Subject   course   matter   learning   and   character   trait   molding.

   Character   trait   development   methods   be   integrated

   and   embedded   into   subject   curriculum.

                                                                                                 [ underlined words  may be linked ]

 Students   Character   Traits   Development:

      Character   traits  are  a  result  of   genes   and   the   environment.

      The   school's   friendly   congenial   and   gratifying   environmental

      learning   experience   enables   child   personality   development

      at  a   young   age:   lifelong   learning   opportunity   for  a   challenging

      future   new   work   environment.

      Character   traits   are   easier   malleable   and   molded   at  an   early  stage  in  life.

      Their   development   enables   future   career   endeavors.

      Students   are   empowered  by   matured  character   traits  that   shed  all   inhibitions

      and  are   ironcladed  to  take  on  the   real  world  after   graduation.

The   Array   presented   below  supports  the   development  of  the   education  standard.

It   associates   or   correlates   Subjects   and   Character   Traits;

Each  numbered   Element  in the array   specifies   whether   there  is  any   association / correlation

between   particular   Subjects   and   Character   Traits.

Array   correlating   Subjects   and   Character   Traits;

      E33 English   have  Correlation  Cr  in  developing   Trait   Listening   Ability

      E12  Literature  have   No Correlation  NCr   in   developing  Trait   Math  Logic  Ability

Each   Element  Cell  in  the  Array   represents

a  Subject   Character  Trait   Curriculum:

Curriculum   Guidelines   are   Objectives   Strategies   Plans   and   Procedures

for   Subject   instruction   and   integration   of   Character   trait   development.

Teachers   would  be   assisted   by   psychologists   in   developing

the   curriculum   program   that   makes   learning   fun   as  well  as   serious.

Character  Trait   Example:

Narration  Ability

Students   scoring   high   grades    in   Mathematics   could  be   motivated

to   narrate   coherently   groupwise   to   colleagues   about   test   paper   corrections.

Students   should   orate   speeches   by   historical   presidents   and   statesmen.

Speeches may be   impromptu   or   extemporaneous.

Physics   and   Chemistry:

Subjects   Physics  and  Chemistry theory  are  supplemented by laboratory practical experiments.

      Correspondingly  other   Subjects  be   integrated  and   supplemented   with   Practicals.

Therefore  each   subject   need    be  integrated  with   practical  and psychological   Ideas

         to  enable  each   unique   trait   development.

Learning   Spaces:

   Class   room   furniture  be moveable  and  conducive

   to   group   learning.

       Considerations   regarding   sizes   of   tables   chairs

   and   open   space   areas affect grouping and therefore teaching.

   High-achieving students in Mathematics may narrate to their

    colleagues in test paper corrections  by being seated groupwise.

Examination   Focus:

     Students scoring 100%,  suggests successful teaching and learning.

Or else  teacher retraining, improved technology, communication and learning spaces may be needed.

Students Exams primarily measure knowledge gained and whether the subject matter is effectively taught.

Teacher   Exams  measure  teaching ability  and  are   monitored   periodically by   senior   teachers   or    certifiers.

Homework   Assignments   and   Term   Ending   Exam   Results:

          Teachers assign homework on the blackboard for students to copy and get signed by teacher before leaving school;

          Teacher   signs   the   written   assignment  in the   homework

book to  check  whether  student correctly copied homework.

  Students   submit   home   assignments the following day.

  Assignments   are   corrected  discussed in classroom    and   returned

  back   to   students  for   their  cognitive  understanding   and   review.

Term Ending Exam Results:

      Exam performance is compared with homework assignments

  to monitor progress.

Teacher and student effort is essential for effective learning

      but the   teacher’s   effort   is decisive.
